2024 Minnesota Sea Grant National Site Review (2018-2023)

October 8-10, 2024

The Minnesota Sea Grant College Program (Minnesota Sea Grant) will be reviewed by a team convened by the National Sea Grant College Program October 8-10, 2024. The review will be conducted in Duluth, Minnesota, and will consider all aspects of Minnesota Sea Grant's operations, including management and organization, engagement, collaborative networks, and performance.

Overview 

The Site Review visit is the only in-person, on-site comprehensive review of each state Sea Grant program. It gives the Sea Grant program's Federal Program Officer (FPO), members of the National Sea Grant Advisory Board, and other reviewers the opportunity to meet with the state Sea Grant program management, their advisory board members, stakeholders, and university officials. This four-year* evaluation looks at the integrated impact of each Sea Grant program toward its strategic plan as well as assessing each program’s success in meeting the Sea Grant Standards of Excellence per Sea Grant's Federal Regulations (15 CFR 918.3) (Appendix A). *The 2024 Site Review will cover a six-year period (2018-2023).

Purpose

The primary purpose of the Site Review visit is to help the National Sea Grant Office determine whether the Sea Grant programs are meeting the legislative and statutory drivers for being part of the National Sea Grant College Program for program determination of recertification and merit funding (US Code 2020 Title 33 Chapter 22; Code of Federal Regulations - 917; Code of Federal Regulations - 918

Public Notice

Minnesota Sea Grant issued a public notice for the site review visit on September 6, 2024, stating that the program will be visited by a Site Review Team (SRT) convened by the director of the National Sea Grant College Program on October 8-10, 2024. The notice invites any person to email comments on the program at least one week (ideally more) before the site review visit date to oar.sg-feedback@noaa.gov. The notice was sent to relevant partners and constituents, placed on the home page of the program’s website, and included in relevant email newsletters, announcements, and/or constituents lists. 

MNSG issued public notices about our program's Site Review on our website event calendar (July-Oct 2024), in our monthly newsletter (Aug-Oct 2024), and via a media announcement (September 6, 2024).
