Twin Ports Freshwater Folk (TPFF) is an informal gathering of people from the Twin Ports of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin, who are engaged in freshwater research, policy, or regulation issues, for networking, informal discussion, and a seminar. Attendees include researchers, managers, communicators, and  community members interested in freshwater science. Meetings (currently virtual) take place on the first Wednesday of every month. At each meeting attendees first network in facilitated discussion groups then hear from our invited speaker(s).

Project description

The Twin Ports Freshwater Folk (TPFF) is an informal gathering of people from the Twin Ports of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin, who are engaged in freshwater research, policy, or regulation issues, for networking, informal discussion, and a seminar. Meetings (currently virtual) take place on the first Wednesday of every month. At each meeting attendees first network in facilitated discussion groups then hear from our invited speaker(s). What have we done lately? TPFF continues to hold monthly meetings. Since 2019, TPFF gatherings have moved to a virtual format which has allowed us to expand our audience.

Why Minnesota Sea Grant?

Minnesota Sea Grant supports freshwater research and acknowledges the need to communicate research to the broader community and respond quickly to the community’s changing research needs.

Twin Port Freshwater Folk is one venue through which Minnesota Sea Grant and our Partners facilitate two-way research communication. Our seminars often cover research relevant to our coastal communities, but also include community members, communicators, and managers detailing new strategies or needs for resource management, environmental outreach, or community engagement around freshwater issues.

Participants & audience

Researchers, students, managers, communicators, and community members are all welcome to join Twin Ports Freshwater Folk meetings.
