2024 Sieur du Lhut Creativity Conference

Members of the UMD community and the public are invited to the 2024 Sieur du Lhut Creativity Conference. This year's theme is "AI and its Implications for Society" and will feature talks by Tinglong Dai, Ph.D., and Saleem Alhabash, Ph.D., followed by a Q&A session. 

This conference is organized by UMD's Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (RSCA) subcommittee and the UMD's chancellor's office. Minnesota Sea Grant's Alex Frie is a member of RSCA and is supporting the organization of this event.

This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.

Presenter Info:

  • Tinglong Dai is a Bernard T. Ferrari Professor of Business at Johns Hopkins University. He is an expert in human-AI interaction, healthcare analytics, and global supply chains. His research focuses on integrating AI into clinical workflows and improving productivity, access, and equity in healthcare delivery. A member of the Johns Hopkins faculty since 2013, Dai is a dynamic and acclaimed MBA professor. He developed and taught the MBA course "Data Science: Artificial Intelligence," which is required for all full-time MBA students since 2021.
  • Saleem Alhabash is a professor of advertising and public relations and associate chair at Michigan State University’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations, where he also co-directs the Media and Advertising Psychology (MAP) Lab. His research focuses on the processes and effects of new and social media within the context of persuasion. More specifically, his research investigates the cognitive and emotional responses, and psychological effects associated with using new and social media.
