This October 2023 Twin Ports Climate Conversations event is a walking tour that will highlight some recent stormwater projects on Barker's Island. Explore the connection between green (and gray) infrastructure, water quality, and climate resilient communities.
The city of Superior, Wisconsin, and its partners are addressing changes in precipitation, storms and water levels through implementation of green infrastructure practices. The intention, partnership, planning and management of stormwater at Barker's Island demonstrates local climate action.
Project leaders will share climate adaptation projects including:
- Barker’s Island site improvement project
- Barker’s Island beach restoration
- Storm drain art with murals by local artists
- Barker’s Island Marina constructed wetland
- Pickle Pond restoration and remediation
Twin Ports Climate Conversations (TPCC) is an opportunity for community dialogue about questions of climate change. TPCC conversations are organized, coordinated, and facilitated by staff from Minnesota Sea Grant, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and other community organizations.
